Few if any pilgrims seek out this natural source of holy water at the foot of an elder tree, its medicinal use supplanted by modern medicine - but still the spring flows”. Britain's Pilgrim Places pg. 165

a Celtic term for locations where it is believed
that the veil between the physical and the spiritual is almost transparent.

‘Liminal’ comes from the Latin ‘limen’, meaning threshold,
for example where the sky meets the sea.

it was as though each place offered me some kind of a gift.
A glimmer of light, a whisper, a fragility, a strength, a power, a presence and often a peace.
